According to the waste law, municipalities are responsible for organizing (either by themselves or by utilizing commercial services) the collection and transportation of household (and other similar) waste. This does not encompass hazardous wastes. In addition, the municipality is obligated to organize the processing or utilization of the aforementioned wastes.
The municipality is entitled to issue its own provisions to clarify those in the waste law. These usually concern technical details caused by local circumstances.
In addition, the municipality can issue a waste-payment to cover the costs incurred by waste processing and transportation. The payment is to be issued on a non-profit basis.
